The package includes Java source code, compiled classes, the JTS geometry library (thanks to Vivid Solutions), SQL scripts to create the tables in Oracle, MySql or SQL Server, and sample run scripts. It does not include any of the following required items:

Oracle

• Oracle DBMS version 9i or 10g including Oracle Spatial (otn.oracle.com/software/products/database/oracle10g)
• Oracle Spatial Java Library (otn.oracle.com/software/products/spatial)
• Oracle JDBC driver version 10(otn.oracle.com/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc) Third party Oracle JDBC drivers will not work due to a dependence in the Oracle Spatial Java Library. We have a report that the version 9 driver also does not work, but the version 10 driver works with Oracle 9

MySql

• MySql version 4.1 gamma (recommended) (dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/4.1.html)
  or 5.0 alpha (not yet recommended due to observed stability problems). Version 4.0 will not work as the spatial extention was introduced in 4.1
• Mysql Connector/J 3.0(dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/j/3.0.html)
  Beta 3.1.3 has serious problems with PreparedStatements.

SQL Server / SpatialWare

• Microsoft SQL Server 2000
• A JDBC driver that supports getGeneratedKeys(). jTDS (jtds.sourceforge.net) is one that does, and it is fine piece of open source software as a bonus. The Microsoft SQL Server JDBC driver does not.
